EMPR200 – Intro Blog

Hello there fellow classmates! I am Tiffany and I am thrilled to be a part of this course. I am a part-time student, full-time professional Administrator. A large part of my role as a professional is assessing risk and drafting contracts. My interest in this course comes from entering a new work environment where there are interactions with unions, something of which is very new to me. If were to pick out a few things as goals for this course, they would be to gain a better understanding of employment legislation in Ontario and have a better understanding of unions and how they operate. I look forward to meeting and working with some or all of you in the next few months!

  1. Hi Tiffany, nice to meet you. What kind of company do you work for? Your job sounds interesting and challenging. I am a full time student and mother and homemaker for now, but I look forward to graduating and finding a career. I am finding this course very interesting too and I hope it can lead me to a good job fit for me.

    1. Thank you Melissa!

I work in the public sector. It is definitely challenging and interesting. If there is one thing I can say in terms of finding a career after school, it would be to think outside the box. Sometimes, we place ourselves on a very strict path in terms of where we want to go in our career. The best career choices I have made in my life were those resulting from chances I was willing to take. Relying on the skills you have and the ones you love to perfect! I look forward to hearing about your journey throughout this course!

  2. Hi Tiffany!

Your job sounds so interesting! I’m excited to hear your opinions on topics throughout the course as I believe that you will have valuable insights. I too think that it is important to gain an understanding of the employment laws and unions in Ontario, especially as employees or, potentially, employers.

    Thanks for sharing!
